The AOWN Case Management Program is designed to provide identification, coordination, and facilitation of community services to assist elderly to remain in their own homes. This program receives its certification from the Nebraska Health and Human Services, Division of Aging.
The AOWN is committed to “helping older Nebraskans find the right care at the right time”. For individuals who are considering admission to the nursing home, community based services may be an option so that they may continue to say at home. Medicaid allows for persons who are aged 65 and older and meet certain eligibility criteria to have the choice of entering the facility or receiving assistance in the home or another alternative to the nursing home. This assistance should not be confused with Medicare benefits.
Promotion of good health and practices of wellness for the older population is accomplished by presentations, information, and demonstrations by the AOWN. The AOWN is available to present to any organization or group, information on health practices and awareness for the elderly
The Nebraska Department on Aging is designated to serve as the Ombudsman provider in the State. This program is the advocate for the well-being of residents who are residing in long term care facilities. The AOWN will assist in the referral to the Department of any complaint, concern or issue affecting a nursing home resident. You can call AOWN or the Nebraska Department on Aging
The AOWN administrates a noon meal program through our services area. You can identify the closes location to you by reviewing our map located on our Nutrition service page. Each meal is prepared to meet 1/3 of the daily recommended dietary needs of older adults. The suggested contribution for meals is solicited to help defray the cost of the meals service.
In-Home assistance in the form of housekeeping & homemakers, Yard mowing, snow removal, and minor repairs and renovation is available in limited areas of the Panhandle. Please call the AOWN for the available providers.
The AOWN has a limited inventory of commodes, walkers, bath benches and other equipment items which can be loaned out at no charge. We can also assist you in finding available equipment from other sources.
Individuals who are in need of a volunteer to help with errands be an advocate or help you in the home. Contact AOWN for assistance
