Feeding Seniors in Western Nebraska
AOWN MEAL PROGRAMS
AOWN administrates a noon meal program throughout the 11 counties of Western Nebraska. Each meal is prepared to meet 33% of the daily-recommended dietary need of older adults. The meal is at no cost, but the State of Nebraska only pays a very small portion of the total cost of the meals service. AOWN solicits a suggested contribution from all participating Senior’s to help defray the cost of the meals. Without these contributions we cannot afford to pay the salaries of out nutrition staff.
Congregate Meals
AOWN has 20 nutrition sites throughout the 11 counties of Western Nebraska. The meal program is a great place to meet and socialize with friends and participate in other activities. Most of the nutrition sites are typically located with the Senior Centers of the communities. A few have nutrition sites in Schools and Fire Halls.
Home Delivered Meals (HD)
Home delivered meals are available for those who are unable to attend the congregate meal program. Arrangements can be made to have the meal brought to your home. Individuals requested this service must have physical incapacities, which restrict them to be home bound.
